KBK’s safety/overload couplings operate on the ball-in-detent principle, ensuring absolute backlash-free performance thanks to KBK’s unique ball arrangement as the locking mechanism. Each safety coupling is precisely adjusted and tested to meet the customer’s specified release torque, which can be continuously readjusted as needed after initial use.
Options: Available in a wide range of configurations to meet diverse assembly requirements, with shaft diameters from 3 mm to 75 mm and torque ranges from 0.2 Nm to 1400 Nm depending on execution. KBK safety couplings are available in four functional modes and come in multiple configurations for both direct and indirect drives, and in addition to the extensive standard product range, custom replicas of existing safety couplings—including those from GERWAH and other brands—are also offered.
Hub styles include keyway, collet clamp, inner cone, and outer cone designs, with two-bearing versions available for high radial loads, allowing flexible mounting options and adaptability across various shaft and installation configurations. These hub styles are combined with a choice of bearing and coupling technology—ball bearings, bush bearings, metal bellows, slit couplings, cardan couplings, or rigid shaft couplings—so the release mechanism can be matched to the demands of the application.
Designed for mounting pulleys and sprockets, these safety couplings deliver reliable overload protection without sacrificing backlash-free precision, and self-centering, self-releasing outer conical hub versions provide very high clamping forces where required.
